6 Months old

Half of a year has flown by! I will be old before I know it. I'm so happy to be feeling well during the holiday season this year (with the exception of strep throat and some other just plain sore throat issues) I have been 100 percent. Which means!!!! My Christmas tree is up and this year my neighbors didn't have to do it for me, although I did appreciate their kindness and help. I'm still tinkering around with all my decorations but the tree is up and looking amazing. We borrowed decorations from Lexis parents so it has a new look this year.

Sawyer is growing up, but not out. He weighed in at 15lb 8oz... small fry. You'll be surprised to know that my sisters twins, who are 2 months younger then Sawyer and were born 6 weeks early are 18 and 16 pounds. Sweet Baby Cooper down the street is wearing the same size PJs and Sawyer. Poor Sawyer is needing to catch up with all his big baby friends.
So while he is only in the 14th percentile for weight he is in the 70th for height at 27 inches. Sounds like one of his parents right? Tall and skinny.

He is very alert and aware of what is happening at all times. I can't watch a show, play on my phone, or even read a book without his noticing. He has hit all the milestones that we were asked about at his appointment except for sitting up. We have been spending extra time practicing, he is getting it. He does love to pull himself into a standing position so it's tricky to get him to sit.

I'm afraid he's figured out that fruits are way yummier then veggies. Today I mixed his bananas and squash just to get him to eat the squash. Banana squash is a food right?

Yes these first two are photoshopped, but only because my camera is awful and I can't get good lighting in the room so all I did was add brightness. Just so no one thinks I'm worried about how my baby looks.
I was at the Williams house and Steve had come home from shopping and had this box. It made an awesome car for Sawyer so now it's in tylers office for our visits to him.

When he is laying on the floor and I take out the camera he goes stiff as a board and smiles for me.
 Fail....
I thought he might like his sweet potatoes better if I let him play in them, it didn't work.
 funny right?
 Matching jammies!!!!
He LOVES bananas, this is his sign for more.

 He's a great stander.

Food

This is not what he looked like when we first started him out on food, but now he loves it! We have tried lots of different things and with the exception of peas he loves it all. His most favorite is Mangos. But who can blame him?

I can't figure out why pretty much ALL baby food is yellow or orange. I'm super careful because I can't stand to lose anymore clothes to that orange stain.

I really enjoy the time it takes to feed him his yummy baby food. He's hilarious to watch. Like I said he will eat everything we've tried except for peas. The time I gave him peas, two bites in he gagged so bad he threw up. I want him to like them eventually so I try one bite a day, and todays bite went much better. Other then that we are eating mangos, bananas, carrots, peaches, squash, and sweet potatoes. Tonight for YW's we stopped at Wendys and had frosties. One of the girls held Sawyer as she ate hers and he was NOT happy that she wouldn't share. We gave him his own spoon, but he just threw it on the floor and reached for hers. He does this whenevever we eat in front of him. What was your babies fav food?

5 Months Old

This kid just gets cuter!! How has 5 months even gone by already?? Sawyer has become so curious about everything. He has to touch and hold and pull and eat anything he can. It's cute... unless its a wad of my hair, then it's not. He's more tons more active. He's figured out that his mattress is bouncy and will lay on his back and kick hard enough that he bounces around the crib. He's never in the spot we put him in. As a matter of fact he's usually on the opposite end cuddle up against the side. Thankfully he is still sleeping through the night.
He loves chewing on his hands and feet and my hands but not my feet.
We started solid foods (I will do a separate posts with pics of that) and it's so fun. It's more of a game for us to see how much he will eat and how much he'll spit out. His favorite food is rice cereal with mangos, which is crazy because Tyler loves sticky rice mango from the Thai restaurant. That combo is the one food I can count on him eating without much spill over.
He takes bathes now more for fun then cleaning. If he is super cranky I put him in a warm bath and let him play away till it's nap time. He thinks it's great.
He talks almost as much as I do. His voice is a little raspy and so stinkin' cute! I put an awesome video on FB of him chatting it up. Grunting has also become a frequent noise. Not my most favorite though.
He is sooooo ticklish, I mean even his back is ticklish. It's easy to make him smile and laugh, and there is nothing cuter then a smiling baby.
He's already addicted to electronics. Anthing with a bright screen or light or sound is more important then eating or talking to mom. If my phone is out he wants it, if the TV is on he watches. Tyler plays video games during the day sometimes and Sawyer can just sit and watch.

We love being parents and we love this darling baby we have been blessed with. We are so grateful for all of our friends and family who are helping us raise this baby. I'm not joking when I say that I don't see Sawyer much at church on Sundays. Someone else usually has him. I think he secretly loves those three hours because of it too. I'm so glad my calling is in YW's because all those girls are so sweet to him. Seriously, he gets lots of love.
We are working on him sitting up on his own. It's a work in progress, but I'm ok with him growing up slowly. It amazes me how much and how fast babies learn and grow.
6 months old here we come!

Halloween

Halloween was never my favorite holiday, but having a kid makes everything way more fun! Sawyer had two different costumes that he wore, one at the church party and one on Halloween night. For the Church party he was a Dinosaur and probably the cutest Dino there ever was.

On Halloween night he was a cow. We borrowed a big cow costume from Lisa and Tyler wore that. We spent the night over at the Lexi and Jordans handing out Hot Cocoa and Hot dogs (and candy). It was a blast! The Peck family (Lexi's parents) have TONS of traditions and we stole this one from them. I am excited to do it again next year!

Sawyer is a lucky baby and loved by everyone! My friend Jenny stole him during the evening and took him on a walk around the neighborhood.

Pinned It. Made It. Loved It.

I started using Pinterest a year ago when I was first pregnant. I loved to just lay on the couch and pin pin pin! Unfortunately, the smell of my laptop made me sick after awhile and I didn't use it for a long time! Once I had Sawyer I started actually making the things I pinned and I thought I would share my successes, because who doesn't wonder if those pins are actually doable?

My biggest pin board would have to be my food board and I have definitely had some hits there!

Just this week I made this yummy crockpot chicken and fed it to some neighbors, who also agreed that it was yummy! It called for red pepper flakes, I left those out. But definitely a simple and quick recipe that we will eat more often!

I have no idea why this isn't showing up as a hyperlink, but eventually I will figure that out. I have a bunch more pins that I've loved and will blog about soon!!

Sports

So now that Tyler's Softball season is over (and they are the city Champs!!) We have moved onto Volleyball. He plays for both the co-ed Stake team and the co-ed city league. My husband is awesome. Both teams he plays on are really good and it's fun to go watch them play and play well. Sawyer and I enjoy our jobs as spectators and cheerleaders.
