One Month

Sawyer is one month old!  And obviously the happiest baby ever!
Right now we have him finally convinced it is ok to sleep in his bassinet. It's a wonderful thing! I can't believe it's really been a month. We were trying to decide if he is one month today the 25th of June (since he was born May 25th) or last Friday since technically that was exactly 4 weeks from the day he was born. What do you think?
This month has been a blur and I should have kept better record of it all! Here are some things I'm sure you're dying to know about Sawyer...
He isn't a fan of the baths, I imagine it's because he has zero control of his body so it seems like we are manhandling him each bath.
He also doesn't like wipes, but would you like something cold and wet on your bum?
He LOVES laying on his tummy. I'm constantly having an internal moral debate about whether or not to let him nap on him tummy. He just loves it.
He enjoy sucking on his green hospital binky.
He's still small, but growing fast!
He eats like a champ
He poops like a champ, and has had a couple of blow outs this last week.
We have been able to let him live it up a bit by taking of the gloves that were basically part of him for the first few weeks, he has really enjoyed grabbing things... and scratching me :)
The car seat was an ok place, now it's like placing him in a sauna, every time I take him out he is a sweaty mess.
He has discovered his lungs and isn't afraid to use them.
He's overall a great kid and we are loving him! It's amazing how his cute face makes up for him waking me up at all hours of the night.
I'm still recovering, but it's going well. My mom is here this week to spoil us. She's grocery shopping as I type. I have also gotten a ton of help from neighbors, family and friends. I spend at least one day a week at Cassies house. We really appreciate all the help we have received!
On Friday we went to dinner with friends, it was our first attempt at a date night with Sawyer, he did ok... I held him most of the time. I am getting real good and one handed things.
We are blessing him this Sunday. I'm excited for Tyler to get to do this for his son! We got him the most darling impractical blessing outfit today. I'm also excited for that!
We are crossing our fingers that, as we try to put this kiddo on a schedule, it will stick and we can eventually sleep at night! Wish us luck!!

Hospital

We spent 3 days in the hospital after little Sawyer. I loved it! I enjoyed having nurses who took care of me and my baby. I definitely needed the time to recover, and we loved all the visitors we got. Tyler was about done by day 3 but only because he had to sleep on that awful couch. He was such an awesome husband the whole time. Because I couldn't stand the first 2 days Tyler had to change all the diapers. He got really good really fast.

 Proud daddy
We had lots of great visitors while we were at the hospital. We loved it. A few people got some food for Tyler. We got some beautiful flowers.  It was nice to be able to share our precious baby with people. We should have taken more pictures though.

Baby Sawyer

 38.2 weeks!

 Our first family photo
Well, in my defense I did say that my next post would be me holding my newborn in my arms.... Baby Sawyer is here! And has been for 3 weeks haha. We are absolutely loving it. I am now officially a stay at home (mostly in my room) mom. It's great! I guess I will start at the beginning... well at 36 weeks, that's when things got going. I had a beautiful pregnancy. I can count on one hand the number of times I threw up, and half of those times I was brushing my teeth. I worked up until 37 wks without much complaint. I was very content being pregnant, there was no real rush to be done other then I wanted to see the little guy. We had even taken a Hypnobirthing course and were excited to use the techniques we had learned. At my 36 wk appt I was dilated to a 1 and baby was in position... At 37 wks I was dilated to a 2 and found out that what we thought was a head was actually feet and, oh ya I had high blood pressure, and that's when everything perfect came to a screeching halt. Dr. O did a quick ultrasound to confirm and yep my baby boy was breech. We sat in the dr's office listening to him explain all my options (all 2 of them). Basically we could schedule a day to try and flip him, or schedule a day for a c-section.... I opted for my own option of wait and see. He agreed to let me wait till the following week. Well, of course nothing changed the next week (it was now tues). We talked more and decided to schedule the c-section for Friday, also went over to the hospital to do a non stress test just to be safe. Well, now I was anxious!! I wanted that baby asap lol. On Fri morning at 5:15 AM we arrived at the hospital. I was admitted into a hospital for the first time in my whole life. I put on the awful gown, got an IV which wasn't as bad as the nurse made me think it would be. Then sat around while I was pumped full of fluids. Dr. O came in and did a final ultrasound to verify Sawyers position, which was still breech. They had me walk to the OR room and sit on a bed where I awaited the spinal block. I had a wonderful nurse who held my shoulders while they did the numbing, which also wasn't as bad as I was prepared for. By this point though my whole upper half (it's all I can feel now) is shaking like crazy, guess I was nervous. They laid me down, scrubbed me up, and called in Tyler and the doc. I love my doctor and he quickly started chatting with me to put me at ease. Tyler sat at my head the whole time talking me through it all, he is wonderful. It was the strangest sensation I have ever experienced. I could feel pressure, but no pain (thankfully). It was quick and easy and soon enough I had a beautiful baby boy! Once he was out I was a lot calmer. Tyler left with Sawyer and we all chatted while I was sewn back together. I spent and hour in recovery then on to my room where I finally got to hold him. I have pics of me holding him, but I don't remember it haha. Here are some pics from the hospital.
